DRUMMING AND SPONTANEOUS CREATIVE EXPRESSION. Explore your wild side!
David Thaiw will lead the day with drumming. He introduces his audience to the very unique instruments from Africa and retells the wonderful folk stories that have been handed down for centuries. His performance, which includes hands on drumming activities, is an exciting, colourful and informative show.
Jacqulynn Mulyk, after lunch, will guide participants through core expression painting. We will work through the misconceptions of creativity, learn how intuitive painting can be applied to all artistic endeavours and how to overcome creative blocks. We will be using Tempera paint. You do not have to be a painter or a drummer to get full value from this workshop.
COST:
$105 for full day. + gst
12yrs to 18yrs: $60. + gst
Here is the story of My wild journey!
While studying the Point Zero method of painting with Michelle Cassou in San Francisco, I experienced a major breakthrough in my own creative process. It was like a gigantic dam constructed since early childhood had finally broken and the result was a huge tidal wave of personal expression. I went home and continued to practice this different approach to my work. I could feel the difference, although it is harder to get to this place of 'freedom' when I am by myself. In December I took a second workshop at the Los Angeles Zen Centre. This time I was able to 'dig deeper', and I learned new ways to access my own personal creative expression. It is this journey that I want to share with you on March 20th.
This method can be used to start any creative journey. The experience of this process will help launch new mysterious creative journeys that you didn't even know you were capable of. You do not have to be a painter to realize benefit from the point zero method.
I am not an 'expert' in this teaching method, but rather, hope my story, examples and explainations of this process will help to inspire your creative journey. I am travelling to New Mexico in October for the Masters program in Point Zero painting methods and when I get back, I hope to hold a 3-day session of exploration. This workshop will be a great introduction. If you can get down to California and spend a week with Michelle - then I recommend it. If you can't then why not take advantage of this opportunity right here in Calgary?
